2025 HERE WE COME!

Happy New Year, friends! As we say goodbye to 2024, I find myself reflecting on the incredible community we’ve built together at Our BirthRoom. Whether you’re a current student preparing to meet your little one, a previous student reflecting on your own journey, or someone simply exploring what’s ahead, this new year is a time to celebrate growth, connection, and possibility.

To my past students—thank you for continuing to inspire me with your stories, feedback, and the way you champion others on this path. To those of you currently navigating pregnancy or preparing for birth, I’m honored to be part of your journey and excited for all that lies ahead.

PERSONAL REFLECTiONS ON THE PAST YEAR

For me, 2024 was a year of growth, learning new skills, and balancing the many hats I wear as a wife, mom, and business owner. There were moments of triumph, like completing and launching the website, and moments of exhaustion, like staying up late to refine content while the house was finally quiet.

One of my biggest personal goals was to step out of my comfort zone and ask for help when I needed it. Through it all, I learned that collaboration often creates something even better than I could imagine on my own. As we say farewell to 2024, I encourage you to reflect on your own journey. What lessons did you learn? What challenges did you overcome?

Looking ahead to 2025, I’m setting a few personal and professional goals that I hope will inspire you as well:

  1. Prioritizing Self-Care
I’ll be carving out intentional time for myself this year—whether it’s a quiet cup of tea in the morning, a daily walk around the neighborhood, or a few minutes of journaling. I fell out of these healthy habits and paid the price midway through the year. I know how easy it is to put everyone else’s needs first, but I’m reminding myself (and you!) that taking care of yourself is not selfish—it’s essential.

  2. Deepening Connections
One of my favorite parts of childbirth education is the bond it creates between families. This year, Stephen and I would love to reconnect with you guys to highlight your stories. Each of you has a unique perspective filled with gems that will benefit so many other families. We also look forward to meeting again at our annual reunion.

  3. Advocating for Change
Our starting point is providing solid education to more families and providing resources that will create a huge impact. We’ll also explore ways to collaborate with more local birth workers and organizations to amplify our mission in the coming year.

FOR PARENTS-TO-BE iN 2025

As you step into the new year, you’re not just preparing for another calendar change—you’re preparing for one of the most profound journeys of your life. Parenthood is beautifully personal, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.

This year, I encourage you to embrace this journey with curiosity and compassion. Reflect on what matters most to you. Is it learning more about childbirth? Building a strong support network? Prioritizing self-care? Write down your intentions and take small, consistent steps toward them.

Remember, every little milestone is worth celebrating. Whether it’s packing your hospital bag, joining Our BirthRoom Academy for childbirth preparation, or simply sharing your hopes with your partner, those moments matter.

When I was preparing for my first baby, I vividly remember sitting with Stephen, mapping out our birth plan. From those early moments of uncertainty to the joy of holding our baby for the first time, I learned that the best preparation is a mix of education, support, and trust—in yourself, your partner, and the process.

To help you stay grounded and focused, I’m also offering 7 Birth Affirmations with Scripture eBook—powerful affirmations from biblical scripture to remind you of your strength and resilience throughout pregnancy and labor. 🌟 Grab the eBook here.

2025 is your year to embrace growth, joy, and the incredible adventure of becoming parents. You’ve got this!

WHAT’S AHEAD FOR OUR BiRTHROOM

This year, we have so much to look forward to:

  • The Launch of Birth Advocacy and Pregnancy Nutrition Initiatives: These new resources will empower parents to confidently navigate their options to advocate for the birth experience they desire and remain low risk and safe while doing it.

    • Quick update: Thank you to our previous students who took the time to vote in our most recent poll. Your voices mattered, and I’m thrilled to announce that Birth Advocacy took first place! I’m working on a new resource now, it will be designed to empower families with knowledge and tools to advocate for themselves during the birthing process and my goal is to have it ready next month. I’m excited to share more in the coming weeks!

  • In-Person Events: Our annual reunion is a staple (the weekend after labor day), where we’ll celebrate progress, share stories, and strengthen our bonds as a community.

  • YouTube Launch: We’re launching our YouTube channel in 2025! 🎥 It will be filled with helpful tips, expert advice, and empowering stories to guide families through conception, pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

THANK YOU

To my previous students: thank you for being a part of our community. Your stories, feedback, and triumphs inspire us to continue in our mission. This work feels so meaningful because Stephen and I have had the opportunity to know you and witness your families grow and thrive.

As we step into 2024, remember that you are resilient and deserving of support. Parenthood is a journey, and we are glad we’re all in this together.

Here’s to a year filled with growth and connection. You’ve got this—and I’m here cheering you on every step of the way.

Warm regards,

Jackai Y.
